Vienna is the capital of Austria, and is also one of the nine states of Austria and with a population of about 1.7 million it is by far the largest city in Austria as well as its cultural, economic, and political center.
Vienna is host to many major international organizations such as the United Nations, UNIDO, OPEC, IAEA, CTBTO and OSCE with offices in the so-called UNO-City at the Danube River. Additionally, Vienna is the seat of the UNCITRAL's secretariat.
Vienna lies in the very east of Austria and is close to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
In the course of the EU enlargement a lot of major enterprises like Heineken, UniCredit, Lafarge, Henkel, REWE, Beiersdorf, etc., moved their headquaters to Vienna to enter these new markets. Also most of the largest Austrian companies, thereunder almost all banks, the OMV or Telekom Austria, have head offices located in the city.  The Vienna Stock Exchange is the only stock market place in Austria. » http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna
